A New Protagonist Joins Progreso’s Cruise Route

On January 8, the Progreso International Cruise Terminal welcomed the Azamara Onward cruise ship for the first time. Arriving from Miami, Florida, and continuing to Bocas del Toro, Panama, this inaugural call represented a meaningful step toward diversifying the region’s cruise itineraries. Flying the Marshall Islands flag and measuring 180.45 meters in length, the Azamara Onward arrived with 625 passengers and 393 crew members on board. As part of the inaugural visit, a commemorative plaque exchange was held with the participation of port, customs, and state tourism authorities, along with representatives from SSA Marine Mexico, reinforcing institutional collaboration and highlighting Progreso’s positioning as an accessible and attractive port for next-generation cruise vessels.
